Target Audience
Oncology nurse practitioners, nurses, and social workers involved in the care of patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).

Description
This education program provides in-depth information about Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs). Participants will gain thorough understanding of MPNs, the latest tests and techniques used to diagnose MPNs, up-to-date treatment options and prognostic scoring systems, what the goals of treatment are, and strategies to manage side effects. The goal is to empower learners with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions about treating MPNs and providing patient and family education and support.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Describe the types of myeloproliferative neoplasms, including myelofibrosis, polycythemia vera, and essential thrombocythemia (MPNs)
- Identify tests used to diagnose disease and monitor treatment of MPNs
- Explain the overarching goals of treatment for the various types of MPNS
- Explain approved and emerging treatment options for all MPNs, including stem cell transplantation, and the role of clinical trials
- Describe strategies to manage treatment side effects as well as potential long-term and late effects of treatments for MPNs
- Describe the healthcare professional’s role in managing patients with MPNs

Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under Provider Number CEP 5832 to award 1.90 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Provider Number 1105, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 12/10/2023-12/10/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 1.50 clinical continuing education credits.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is recognized by the New York State Education Departments State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0117.
