SEATTLE, WA – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society President and CEO, E. Anders Kolb, M.D., will join a distinguished panel of healthcare leaders at the 2025 Summit on Cancer Health Disparities (SCHD) in Seattle, Washington, to debate on of the most pressing issues facing the nation, U.S. healthcare crisis.

Hosted annually by Binaytara, SCHD brings together healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds to explore interconnected challenges in cancer care that are often overlooked.

Dr. Kolb will help close the summit on April 27, 2025, as part of a debate panel entitled “Crisis in Care: Can the U.S. Find a Sustainable Model for Affordable Healthcare?” He will be joined by other distinguished experts, including Dr. Alan Balch, President and CEO of the Patient Advocate Foundation, and Dr. Larry Kessler, Professor at the University of Washington School of Public Health

On the topic of systemic change in healthcare, Dr. Kolb shared, “It is clear that the current administration and Congress have initiated an important conversation about how we fund research and healthcare in the United States. We welcome these discussions and have been actively engaged in them for decades. Though we differ with the administration in the methods used, we support conversations on improving access to innovative therapies, especially in a landscape where healthcare costs are rising at an unsustainable rate.”

More than 330 million people in the United States are navigating one of the most complex healthcare systems in the world. The tangled dynamics between providers, insurers, and patients have contributed to a system in an ongoing crisis. Despite national programs like Medicare and Medicaid, millions of Americans remain uninsured.
