The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) knows how challenging it can be to plan for your future during or after cancer treatment. Hospital stays and interruptions in school may mean pausing your goals. And the high cost of cancer care can make affording higher education difficult.
As you navigate life after diagnosis or treatment, we’re here to help. The LLS Scholarship for Blood Cancer Survivors provides up to $7,500 to cover tuition for virtual or in-person vocational, trade, two-year, or four-year undergraduate education for one year. Your future is now, and we want to support your dreams.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Scholarship program, an applicant must satisfy the following requirements:
- Be a blood cancer patient or survivor diagnosed at age 25 or younger
- Be a United States citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or a U.S. territory
- Submit an LLS Diagnosis Verification Form
- Be attending or planning to attend virtual or in-person vocational, trade, two-year, or four-year undergraduate education in the U.S. Applicants can be full-time or part-time students. The scholarship cannot be used towards graduate level programs.
- Award payments will be disbursed through Utah my529 savings accounts. For more information about setting up a Utah my529 account and the payments process, please review the video.

Mikayla
Plenty of things have changed since my diagnosis, but my experiences and motivations have not faltered one bit. I’m not the same person I was before and I’m grateful for that. I’m grateful to have lived through what I have so I can share my experiences and strengths with others and advocate in ways I have not considered before.
Janna
The journey through my cancer treatment involved enduring numerous medical procedures, hospital stays, and the physically and emotionally draining effects of chemotherapy. The concerns I once had paled in comparison to the battle for my life. This perspective taught me to be more compassionate and understanding of others, recognizing that we never truly know what someone might be going through.
Dillon
My goal in life and my passion is to help other people. By pursuing a career in nursing, I will be able to accomplish this goal and use the skills I develop to improve my patients’ experiences. I am looking forward to attending college to learn all of the skills that seemed to have come so naturally to my nurses when I was going through treatment.
